Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference from TresWhite Supreme and Opalescence Tooth Whitening System?
A: The Opalescence system comes with custom made trays that insure even product distribution on your teeth. Also, the whitening gel in the Opalescence has a higher percentage of whitening ingredients, which will give you a better result.
Q: Are there any side effects of the whitening?
A: While all of our products have been shown to have minimal side effects, there are a few you should be aware of. The first is tooth sensitivity; some, but not all, patients have complained of minor sensitivity after whitening. The other possible side effect is gum irritation; it is more common with the laser whitening and usually only lasts a day or two. We do have a desensitizing gel in our office to reduce sensitivity, usually needed for just the first 24 hours.
Q: Is there any follow up care needed?
A: It takes 48 hours for the enamel pellicle to reseal. In addition, you may chose to have a fluoride treatment when you are finished whitening. This seals up the tubules in your teeth that collect the stain; therefore, minimizing future stain accumulation and any post whitening sensitivity. The assistant will provide you with at homecare instructions during your scheduled bleaching appointment.
